Steps We Take To Install The CertainTeed Integrity Roofing System:

Here's a thorough overview of the entire roofing installation process from beginning to end:

Here's a thorough overview of the entire roofing installation process from beginning to end:

Less

1. We will begin by removing all existing shingle layers.
Older homes can sometimes have as many as 3 to 4 layers of previously installed shingles, so its ex-tremely important we get down to the bottom of this before moving onto the next step.

2. Once we have safely removed all the shingles from the roof we will inspect the entire wood substrate for any damaged and/ or rotted areas and replace them with new decking matching the existing thickness of the roof substrates. We will also replace any damaged trim around the home's rakes and eaves using wood trim or PVC like Azek per homeowners request to ensure we have a solid foundation to build upon.

3. We will install a professional grade water barrier on the all rakes, eaves, valleys, skylights, chimneys, and transitional walls of the roof with a minimum of 6 feet on eaves and 3 feet on rakes (Building Code only requires 24 inches beyond the warm wall) to give you the absolute best protection from the outside elements such as snow and ice.

4. We then install a professional grade drip edge around the eaves and rakes of the entire roof. The drip edge is scientifically engineered to help prevent water from adhering to your roof and provides your home with the best water management system available.

5. This next step is extremely important and critical to ensuring your roof will never leak, unfortunately many roofing companies will rush through this step because its very time consuming and labor intensive. At HOMES ICG we will take extra care in ensuring all chimney flashing and step flashing in your siding and transitional walls are completely water tight in order to protect your home for a lifetime. Many roofs fail prematurely because this step is rushed!

6. We will replace all existing pipe boots and collars around exhaust pipes, helping boost curb appeal and protect against leaks.

7. To protect the remaining exposed decking we use a high grade synthetic underlayment that is completely water proof and upto 600% more breathable than traditional felts and underlay-ments in the market today, this will help improve your homes ventilation, energy efficiency and help keep your wood decking moisture free.

8. Now we can start installing your new shingles. We start with a hurricane rated category 3, 130 mph wind resistant CertainTeed Swift Start Starter Strip around all eaves and rakes to ensure shingles will never blow off. This Starter shingle has a special adhesive known as Precision Adhesive that when activated by the sun's UV rays will create a really strong bond with the new shingles preventing them from blowing off.

9. Now that we've taken care of all the prep work, we can finally install the shingles. There is a specific technique to installing the shingles the right way, and all of our crews have been professional trained and certified by CertainTeed experts. Properly laying down the foundation and shingles is something that is extremely overlooked in the roofing industry and its the most important component to ensuring your home never has problems in the future. This is what truly separates HOMES ICG from the rest of the pack, we exceed building code requirements and we are proud of that fact.

10. Once all shingles have been properly installed we can now cut open your ridge at the peak of your roof and let it breathe. Ventilation is one of the most important components of having a proper roofing system and warranty. The width and depth we cut at the ridge varies from roof to roof, and we follow a very strict process to ensure your homes ventilation is addressed the right way.

Fact: Did you know nearly 85% of all homes in New England have poor ventilation. Poor Ventilation is a leading cause to increased heating and cooling costs, premature roof failure, Ice Damming and in severe cases possibly allowing mold and mildew to fester in your home?

11. Then we install the most advanced ventilation system available known as the CertainTeed Ridge Vent.
This is a very tedious process and for most home's takes nearly 2 hours to hand nail each and every vent using 3 inch hand nails to ensure it'll never pull away from your roof. This ventilation system is engineer to improve your home's ventilation by up to 53% helping eliminate excessive heat, moisture and lingering airborne bacteria and harmful toxins from your home, while improving energy efficiency.

12. The ridge of the roof is typically one of the most vulnerable areas of your home as high winds can cause a lot of damage in these areas. In order to best protect the home we will install an extremely durable capping shingle on the ridge of the roof with 3 inch hand nails to ensure a tight seal that'll never blow off, but most importantly add to the beauty and curb appeal of your home.

6. We ultimately want to make sure you are completely comfortable and all your questions have been answered prior to any work beginning. We will be onsite during the installation as well to ensure we can answer questions during the installation.

WE HOPE YOU ARE JUST AS EXCITED AS WE ARE FOR THE BIG DAY!

Steps We Take During The Installation

Congratulations! The big day has finally arrived to get your roof fully redesigned and get you that beautiful new curb appeal you have been waiting so patiently for, and we hope you are just as excited as we are. To make this a great experience we want to walk you through the installation process so you are just as prepared as we are on this exciting day.

1. A project manager will meet with the homeowner first thing in the morning before any work begins to review the scope of work, installation techniques and specific areas to be addressed.

2. The project manager will then have a team meeting with the crew and advise them of all the lingering concerns that need to be addressed.

3. All crews are exclusive members of HOMES ICG and we have extremely high standards entirely focused on giving each of our clients a stress free customer focused experience.

4. We will do our absolute best to protect the house and neighbors from loose debris by nailing down a commercial grade tarp on the eaves of the roof to protect the home and landscape to the best of our ability.

5. Unfortunately active job sites can be a little messy, but we have you covered. Our cleaning crew will be on site throughout the day actively picking all loose debris around the entire perimeter of the home to help maintain a safe and clean work environment.

6. All crews will abide by strict safety and building code requirements and will be directly managed by a project manager on site.

7. Upon completion your project manager will do a final inspection of the entire roofing system, walk around the job and inspect all building materials and answer any questions you may have.
